Loving Summer!

I can’t believe I haven’t blogged since we have moved into the house. It’s been awesome! Sort feels like living in a corporate apartment though. I don’t even have a bottle of Advil here. The kids and I have been taking it slow and being bored at times, but still enjoying the space to run outside and the quiet that the ‘burbs brings. Personally, I have enjoyed knowing where my laundry is and letting my kids run a little further form the nest and best of all…driving! Oh what control I gain from this. Still not missing the domestic help as having my house to myself has been great. I think I am keeping the new kitchen clean and I have swept and mopped a few times. I have not been interested in putting the baby toys away every hour, so that part hasn’t changed.

The kids and I potted plants with the help of some of the neighbors earlier this week and have been trying to cook at least one meal together a day. The girls have been introduced to chores this summer and have done pretty well. I think they, too, have been eager to be responsible for more and gain some independence.

It does seem quite funny, but not unusual, that the girls have found toys they have had for years that they are now taking an interest in. The one I have noticed the most is the battery-powered Jeep we have had forever. Maybe they have been too young thus far, but they are both loving it. I even let them out front without me present…that is unheard of. It could also be that practically speaking, with three kids, it’s impossible to have them all in the same place, something has to give!

It’s going to be so hard to return to Manila in a month. I am trying desperately to live in the moment and not dread the end of summer as it keeps me from having fun today. I do look forward to having Curt back in our life. He’s sort of dealing with another side of life that I am right now.

Anywho, just wanted to check in and let you know we are all enjoying Colorado. I even love the afternoon thunderstorms people are so tired of here. Weather that changes throughout the day, temperatures that fluctuate more than 5 degrees…so interesting!

  1. Yeah!!!...all of it Julie! I am loving driving, doing laundry and having my girls clean up after themselves. It feels so peaceful here and I haven't minded at all living in my parents house. (it is gianormus so we all have lots of space) Even the small mall is so cool here in Twin Falls just because strolling the mall is just that "strolling"...no stress involved! I should be struck down, I have even said in my mind that I might not mind living here, wow. I am sighing for us all and the time we have in the US...I am not thinking about the day we have to get back on the plane for Manila...not ready...hummm can we extend?
