Kung Hai Fat Choy (Happy Chinese New Year!)!
Although I am a day late, those of you in the US are not! January 26th is Chinese New Year this year. I can't believe the US has not commercialized this holiday as it's a great excuse to get together. In the Philippines it is a common celebration. Not all Filipinos celebrate, but, obviously, those with Chinese heritage do, along with those of us who enjoy having a celebration for any reason! Just to jog your memories, this date in the Chinese New Year is when the "year of the ....." changes to the "year of the ...." Are you following? Remember when you are at a Chinese restaurant and the place mat has all the animals and the years on it. You never really remember your animal, so you have to look it up each time? Ringing a bell?
Well here, most people know their animal. For instance, I am a dragon, Curt is a tiger, Aleah is a snake, Elle is monkey and Jones is a rat. Yesterday, the year turned from a rat to an ox. Each animal has it's own profile and gives structure for how you should live each year. Considering Curt's career tends to drive where we live and how we live, I decided to place an excerpt here of what Curt can expect this year: For the Tiger in business and career this year will be much better than last although you should not boast too much with colleagues or competitors as there are a few people out there that may want to back stab you and tell many lies to make you look bad, make sure you wear your protection animal for the year and more importantly remember my advice as being prepared is good. In business you may also be offered a partnership and you should look at this as being positive although spend time looking over any small print on contract especially in the month of July and October.I decided not to post the personal area of his zodiac, but to sum it up...he needs to resist temptation from the opposite sex! I hope everyone is keeping an eye on him. ;) Lots of superstition and feng shui. After reading all the tiger predictions, Curt will be unavailable the month of October as it seems hell will break lose with a fury...yikes!
So, for pure entertainment, we celebrate Chinese New Year. We celebrated with our friend/neighbor, Heather, and her three children with Chinese food (General Tsao's Chicken and dumplings). Look for next year's Chinese New Year celebration at our home as we think it would be fun to bring back a holiday we can share with our friends!
