Kitchen Construction Part 2

OK, thus far I have only updated you through mid March. My next set of pictures are from April 11th. Just one month later and my house looks like it’s just going up for the first time.

April 11th 2

From the bar/sink area. I should point out that the hole in the drywall will have hanging glass door cabinets with a pass-through to the dining room underneath. No fear that the workers got carried away here. :)

April 11th 4

From eating nook.

April 11th 6

New bay window, where the triple window was.

April 11th 5

New window where sliding glass window used to be.

Even more barren than before, the new bay window and the removal of the sliding glass door has opened up the kitchen a ton. From a fire code standard, this is a nightmare as there is currently no back exit from the house with the sliding glass door removed and the French door not yet in. We were counting our blessings we weren’t having to live in the house while this craziness was going on. I do know that the weather played a huge role at this time. They weren’t able to remove the windows and add the bay until there were about 3 days of no moisture in the forecast. This can be quite difficult in April.

Might I also add, all these pictures are courtesy of my stepdad, Mike. He’s been the official photographer of the Gooden Kitchen Remodel! Thanks, Mike!
